As the battle to protect the Stampriet Transboundary Aquifer and those who rely on it intensifies, your support has never been more needed.
Today, we stand at a critical juncture that could determine the fate of the Stampriet Transboundary Aquifer, the only year-round freshwater source in the dry south-eastern part of Namibia. Our mission? To halt the advancement of proposed in situ uranium mining operations that could irreversibly pollute this irreplaceable resource.
The Pilot Project on Farm Tripoli at a Critical Turning Point
The Environmental Clearance Certificate application has reached a critical stage. While we celebrate extending the comment period, we must now leverage this momentum urgently and effectively.
We now approach the final stretch, a stage which is not just important, but decisive. The initial round drew the attention of decision-makers and helped to extend the deadline for public commenting, marking a pivotal shift in the dialogue surrounding the in situ uranium mining project's future. Now, we must amplify our efforts, proving the overwhelming public opposition to the mine.
Why Your Signature Matters
For every individual supporting the mine, there are a hundred voices against it and we need to prove this to the decision-makers who hold the fate of our aquifer in their hands. This isn't just about preventing one mine; it's about setting a precedent that protects the scarce and valuable water sources in Namibia.
The consequences of such development are far-reaching, affecting communities, wildlife, and ecosystems across Botswana, South Africa, and Namibia, with many people from these areas writing in and adding their voices in opposition to this proposed project. International and local hydrology, uranium, environmental, and legal experts who understand the inherent dangers align with SAUMA but the cornerstone of our campaign is public support.

The Time to Save the Stampriet Aquifer Is Now
We are in the final stretch, with the deadline looming on the 23rd. This is our last chance to make an indelible impact. The decision will soon rest in the hands of officials, but the power to influence that decision lies with us. Let's ensure that when the time comes, we've done everything possible to safeguard our water for future generations.
This cannot be allowed to happen! Water is a precious resource required for human, animal and plant survival.
Please make an online voting, like Afriforum in SA always do. People do not always have the tools to print and scan.
We need something to sign
